Do you feel bloated after eating a salad… and don’t understand why?

You’re not alone.

In this video, I explain why foods we often consider “healthy” like salads, raw vegetables, smoothies, and juices can actually make digestion worse for some people.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, health is not only about what you eat… it’s about whether your body can digest it.

You’ll learn:

• Why raw foods can be harder to digest • What “Agni” (digestive fire) really means

• Why stress affects digestion more than you think

• Why midlife and burnout change how your body processes food

• Simple ways to reduce bloating without restrictive diets

This is not about avoiding salads. It’s about understanding your body.

salad trying to be healthy? And then you feel bloated, gassy, uncomfortable, or strangely unsatisfied afterward? Maybe your stomach feels swollen. Maybe you don't even go to the bathroom properly afterwards. And maybe by 3 p.m. you are craving sugar, coffee, even bread. And then you think, what's wrong with me? I hate healthy food.

what if I told you sometimes the problem is not your body. sometimes the problem is the idea that one food is healthy for everyone all the time in every season. to explain why salads, raw vegetables, smoothies and juices

can sometimes make digestion worse, especially if you are stressed, tired, constipated, in very many perimenopause or running on empty. And I'll explain what Ayurveda has taught for thousands of years about this. Hi, my name is Jean-Francois. I'm a registered nurse, an Ayurvedic health counselor, a yoga teacher, and I help people create more energy and resilience through practical Ayurveda.

And one of the biggest misunderstanding I see is this. People think healthy food is about nutrients. Ayurveda says healthy food is also about even the best food in the world means very little if your body struggles to process it. So why the salad can create bloating?

Okay, let's start with the obvious. Salad is not bad. is not an anti-salad video. Salad can be refreshing, cleansing, hydrating, full of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Can you feel it? Like it's a sort of dish that we eat maybe during summer when it's hot. But raw vegetables can also be

cold, rough, dry, bulky and harder to break down than cooked food. an Ayurvedic length, this quality can aggravate certain people more than others.

Especially if you're really tend towards bloating, gas, constipation, anxiety, dry skin, irregular appetite, and you feel cold or feeling those people, a giant raw bowl of kale at lunch might not feel energizing at all.

It may feel like swallowing a bag of leaf and hoping for the best. And many people know exactly what I mean by that. Modern wellness culture often says, just eat raw big news for you. Your stomach is not a Vitamix.

Okay. Your body has to warm the food, break it down, move it properly, absorb the nutrients and eliminate waste. Wow. That's require quite a digestive power. And in Ayurveda, we call that digestive power, Agni. A-G-N-I. It's your digestive fire. It's the fire that's going to digest all the food, all the nutrients that you put in your body. When Agni is strong,

many foods are tolerated way better. When acne is weak, even healthy food, like the salad, can create symptoms. That's why someone can eat smoothie and feel amazing, and another person can drink the same smoothie and feel bloated, chilled, hungry on our later, foggy, and constipated later that day.

Same food, different digestions.

Now, here's the part that most people miss. Sometimes, it's not the salad itself. It's the state you are in while you are eating it. You are answering email while you eat the salad. You are driving. I know some people who eat salad while they are driving. Come on. You are eating at your desk. You're stressed about your mother. You're rushing to pick up the kids.

You are thinking about 15 different things and your nervous system is in survival mode. Digestion is not the priority when you are in survival mode. Even beautiful organic food can become hard to digest when eaten in stress. I don't understand, when I'm on vacation, I can eat that stuff and I'm fine.

exactly. Because you are

and digestion improves when the body feels safe. And this is especially important in midlife, during perimenopause for women, and chronic stress, after years of over giving. Many people become more sensitive to cold food, skipping meals, raw food, erratic eating, caffeine, replacing meals.

the system often becomes drier, more depleted, more reactive. And then they blame themselves. They think, my body is broken. I used to be able to do all that stuff. Well, no, not really. Your body may simply be asking for different support now. Sometimes what worked when you were 25 is no longer works when you are 47. This is wisdom. This is not.

make you bloated, don't panic. Option one, warm lunch instead of salad. Swap the raw lunch for a soup, a stew, a rice bowl with cooked vegetables, lentil, or roasted vegetable with protein. Options two, lightly cook the vegetables.

Instead of raw kale, saute the spinach, steam the greens, roasted zucchini, warm carrots.

Option number three, add warmth through spices like ginger, cumin, fennel, coriander. These often support digestions. number four, eat calmly, sit down, breathe first, chew properly, no phone if possible.

And finally, options number five, build meals that satisfy. Some salad fail because they are not a meal. Lettuce alone is not emotional support. So include some protein, some healthy fat, grain or starch if needed, warm elements.

not only looks good on Instagram, it should leave you feeling energized, satisfied, clear-minded, comfortable, regular in digestions, calm.

If a food repeatedly leaves you bloated and miserable, that's matter. This is piece of information that you have to take. do I feel worse? Please remember, health is not about copying someone else's plate. It is about understanding your

is one of the greatest gift that Ayurveda offers. Personalization. Sometimes the healthiest food is not the trendiest food. Sometimes it is the warm bowl of soup. Sometimes it's the cooked vegetable. Sometimes it is eating in peace.
