Have you ever sat down for five minutes and instead of relaxing, you felt guilty? Maybe the moment you stop, your mind starts racing. I should be doing the dishes. I need to answer the email. I forgot to call someone. I shouldn't. I should not be sitting right now. that sounds familiar, this video is for you

because many people today don't struggle with laziness. They struggle with not knowing how to rest anymore. I'm going to repeat that. They struggle with not knowing how to rest anymore. has a very different perspective on rest. In Ayurveda, rest is not weakness. Rest is not selfish.

Rest is not something that you earn only after exhaustion. Rest is medicine. I'm Jean-Francois. I'm a registered nurse and Ayurvedic health counselor and I help overwhelmed people and caregivers restore their energy in

practical ways. and today I want to talk why rest be one of the missing pieces in your health. we live in a culture that often celebrate being busy, always productive, always available, always reachable, always doing something.

and many people feel proud of that, saying, my god, I feel exhausted, I've been so busy, I never stop. time, we start to associate movement with value. If I'm doing something, I matter. If I stop

maybe I'm failing. that even becomes stronger when you have to look after someone else. because when someone depends on you, it can feel like there is always one more thing to do.

Later tonight, later this weekend, later next month, later when things calm down. But the truth is, that moment never comes.

instead they rest only when the body forces them to they burned out they are super anxious you cannot sleep you have insomnia or you get sick Ayurveda would say this is so backwards

Ayurveda teaches us that health is created through rhythm. There is a time for activity, there is a time for nourishment, there is a time for digestion, there is a time for sleep, and there is a time for stillness. In other words, life moves in cycle. But modern life

often removes the pauses between cycles. We eat while working. We work while worrying. We scroll while eating. a super stimulated mind. Ayurveda places a great importance on the space between things. Transition, junction.

pauses, because often healing happened there in the transition. only during effort, but during the recovery phase. All right, so let's make this practical. One, let's talk about like space between meals. Ayurveda often recommend

allowing time between meals. Why? Because digestions need time. constantly snack, graze, or eat under stress, the body may never fully process what's came before. That can show up as heaviness, bloating, unstable hunger, or foggy energy.

sometimes you don't need more food. When you need is more time to digest. All right, number two, space between activities. Many people go from one task straight into the next. Work, errands, taking care of someone, dinner, screen, bed, no transition. The nervous system stays on

all the time. Even two minutes between activities can signal safety to the body. And if you are looking for a video on a short meditation, you can click here at the top of the screen. Number three, space before reaction. And this one is quite big. Sometimes, you know, we are asked to do something and we're to answer right away. A message comes in and stresses rises.

and we react immediately. But a small pause before responding can protect your energy and bring clarity. Sometimes the healthiest response begins with one breath.

Now I know some people are thinking that's really nice but I don't have time. So let's talk about micro rests. So you do not need a retreat in the mountains. ordinary life. Here's five examples that I'm going to give you. Number one.

Three breaths before entering the house. Before you walk in after work, pause. Three slow breaths. before your transitions to the next. Number two.

sits for two minutes after meals. No phone, no rushing, just sit. Let the body begin digestion calmly. Number three, drink a herbal tea without multitasking. One cup of warm water with full attention. That is rest. Number four,

pause before saying yes. We talked about that before. When, you know, instead of reacting right away, when someone asks you some things, try, let me think about it. You can repeat, let me think about it. That pose is a protective medicine. And number five, 10 quiet minutes before going to bed. No problem solving, no stressful content, meaning no phone, just dim the light, slow breathing, gentle unwinding, but small moment, repeat daily, changes the nervous system.

But rest is not doing nothing. Rest is allowing important things to happen. Your digestion recalibrates, your hormones regulate, your patient returns.

your energy rebuilds.

body is intelligent, but it needs space to do its resting makes you guilty, I want to leave you with this. You do not need to earn rest through collapse. Rest is not the opposite of productivity. Very often,

It is what makes healthy productivity actually possible. if your body has forgotten how to slow down or if you feel stuck in constant stress, I offer personalized IOD consultations to help you restore energy in a very realistic view. If this video will help you, please subscribe.
