Caregiving isn’t just hard — sometimes it suddenly feels heavier, more exhausting, and emotionally confusing. And many caregivers wonder: “Why now?”
In this video, I explain how Vedic astrology (Jyotisha) can support caregivers, not as a fortune-telling system, but as a navigation tool.
Most caregivers don’t want predictions. They want orientation.
In this video, you’ll learn:
🌿 What Vedic astrology actually does (and what it does not do)
🌿 How astrology explains seasons of heaviness, exhaustion, and identity shifts
🌿 Why loss of motivation is often about capacity, not discipline
🌿 The three key teachings astrology offers caregivers: simplification, boundaries, and energy conservation
🌿 A gentle reflection using the three qualities of the mind (Rajas, Sattva, Tamas) to understand your mental energy without judgment
If you’re a caregiver feeling depleted, questioning yourself, or silently grieving who you used to be, this video will help you understand what season you’re in — and how to move through it with compassion and clarity.
✨ Caregiving is not just a role. It’s a journey. And every journey deserves a map.
If astrology was just about predictions, caregiver would not need it. Most caregiver I work with do not ask me when is this gonna end or you know what's coming up next. What they want to know is why is it so heavy right now? or I feeling exhausted and I don't understand why.
And this is where Vedic astrology can be incredibly helpful for caregivers. Not as fortune teller, but as navigation tool. Caregivers don't need prophecy, they need orientation. So in this video, we're going to talk about three different things. First, we're going to define what Vedic astrology, also known as Jyotisha, is and what it does. Then we're going to talk about the application specifically to caregiving.
And third, we'll talk about the key teaching caregivers can take from it.
and stay until the end because I want to share with that ability to check where you are spending most of your time in terms of mental energy. and I know that it will be very helpful for you.
Hi, I'm Jean-Francois. I'm a registered nurse, an Ayurvedic health counselor, a yoga teacher and a Vedic astrologer. I help caregivers of aging parents going from feeling depleted and tired to feeling granted and stable so they can take care of the person they love the most.

So what does Vedic astrology or Jyotisha does? Well to start let me be very clear with something. This is not about predicting future events, this is not about telling you what will happen and this is definitely not about taking away your free will. Jyotisha is like a fancy GPS. You know when you take your car and you're going somewhere the GPS is not going to tell you
you will arrive at 417 at grandmother's house and you will have tea and biscuits. No, the GPS is gonna analyze actually what's the trajectory or what's the journey from point A to point B and will look at the landscape, will look at the terrain to see if there's any roadblock or anything, what's the best route to navigate. Maybe, your GPS will look at also the weather forecast and if there's some rain and some snow or anything, it will adapt.
And the third thing is it will give you some speed limit. The GPS now, tell you when you are going too fast or when you are going too slow. So here's the things, a birth chart is exactly the same thing. When somebody comes to me and we are looking at the birth chart, I'm going to first look at what's the terrain, what's the landscape. And I'm going to look at different portion of that.
birth chart. So it could be about duty, it could be about family, it could be about service, identity, letting go of some stuff. And it's really easy to see like where the person is actually right now navigating. Then we're going to look at the weather and we're going to look at where is the rain right now in the birth chart where the sun is shining and where it's going to be maybe easy to navigate, how these things are combining together. So that will be
easy for me to give you some orientations on where to go and what to do. And then obviously speed limit because if the weather is a little bit foggy, it's little bit congested, then we might advise you to slow down and to take another road or maybe to go through another lens where maybe the trajectory is a little bit easier.
Alright, so let's apply that to caregiving.
Sometimes caregivers come to me and they will say been doing this for quite a few years now and I don't know why, but it suddenly feels way much heavier. From an astrological perspective, doesn't mean that you are weaker, it doesn't mean you are failing, it's not because life is punishing you, it's because life is asking you to maybe learn something differently.
So we see these phases sometimes it might be an invitation to put some boundaries. Sometimes it might be an invitation to work on some emotional labor or maybe an invitation to redefine what being loving means really. Another thing that caregivers come and says is
I know what I should do for myself, and I cannot really do it And these things look at like you are unmotivated, lazy or undisciplined or doing self care or you're doing self care wrong, for example, but astrology offer a different perspective.
some period in your chart will drain mental and emotional bandwidth. Decision fatigue increase, even the small tasks feels big. By the way, if you want, there's a video about decision fatigue. It's right here on top of the screen. Just click it and you'll see the video. So the problem is not motivation. The problem is capacity. There's too much stuff, you know, going on.
And when you understand that, then you stop shaming yourself. You are not forcing old routines that no longer fit, or you start adapting your care and that feels better for you and that feels better for the person that you love as well.
Another very common experience that people come and questions is identity questioning. So caregiver often quietly grieve who they used to be and grieve their freedom or grieve the sense of self outside of the role.
So astrology actually tell us that some phases dismantle your identity. It's like you have to shade your old self to show up in your new identity. And it's not a punishment. It's just that, you know, it's an invitation to mature as everything in life, we are invited to change. So this is when the questions arise like, where am I beyond this role? What is actually mine to carry? what am I allowed to
So these questions are not about breakdown but it's about more transition.
All right. So what are the real key teaching things coming from astrology for caregivers? I think that we can summarize that in three different things. when we think about the season of caregiving, that can be a season of heaviness, a season of things need to slow down because the person we are taking care of is slowing down. It's about doing less things, but doing them on
purpose. So there's a really good thing for that. It's called simplification. you will need to simplify your commitments. need to simplify your routine and you will need to have lower expectation. just because complexity costs energy and you don't really have that energy right now.
The second thing that the chart is teaching us is about boundaries. Like in the charts, there's really defined area of life. You have to be able to put some boundaries. And it's not just about saying no, it's about saying, Here is what I can do, and here is what I can't do.
conservation of energy.
and that's a good thing when you look at a chart there's some area where it will be like this area is gonna be easier for you at the moment that area is not gonna be so easy so if you want to conserve your energy astrology can give you permission
to stop performing resilience Cargivers are resilient but sometimes it's just performing resilience and this is heavy.
Before we close our time together, I want to share with you a very simple reflection or practice, it's not about fixing yourself, it's about awareness.
in Vedic wisdom, the three different modes of quality. One is called Rajas And that energy of being active, it's the urgency, there's a passion, there's pressure, moves fast, fast, fast. There's also the energy of sattva of being clear and present.
balance and on the other side we have the energy of tamas and the energy of tamas might be a little bit heavy it could look like exhaustion or shutdown and it could be dull so during the day our mind moves through these three different energies so the goal is to notice where you are and how much time you spend in different kind of mood so the invitation is to look okay
Rajas, urgency, going from one task to another, moving, moving, moving all the time. Ask yourself, how much time do I spend in that doing mode? And is my mind still kind of like raceling even when I'm trying to rest? Because that would be the Rajasic energy. And I'm not telling you that Rajas is bad. It's actually good because you need Rajas to do things. But too much Rajas.
can also imply that you're going to go towards burnouts. Now, that energy of sattva right in the middle, clarity, clearness, focus. And sattva, for caregivers, might show up in a nice conversation with someone and you realize, that was a nice conversation. Or it might be simply a moment where you feel grounded, clear and strong.
So ask yourself, at the end of the day or during the day, if there's a moment where I feel that energy, or even like for a few minutes, can I get at ease and clear? And it's not just about like being at ease for being at ease, but it's mean that your nervous system is supported in this moment. And then finally, the energy of tamas and you can see that I can see that as a pendulum, the energy of tamas on the other side, might show up at
crashing at the end of the day and not even being able to sleep basically because you are too tired or it might be some moment when you are scrolling on your phone and endlessly looking at some stuff on social media. So in this moment, ask yourself, am I feeling depleted? Am I feeling down? Or is there some part of me that's kind of really dark and heavy right now?
And just want to make sure that tamas is not laziness. It's just we need tamas to fall asleep for example at night and to get some rest so it's necessary. But it's also a sign of long extension. So pay attention to this difference, energy during the day. And this reflection is not about being good or being bad. It's about
being like, okay, how much time do I spend in this different energy or which one is missing from me? Awareness alone can shift the system. Yes, let me repeat that. Awareness alone can shift the system. And that's exactly what having your birth chart read by me or by a Vedic astrologer can really help you because it will...
give you a sense of that journey, give you a sense of where you are right now
So, Vedic Astrology reminds us that every phase has a purpose, every phase changes, and your job is not to outrun it. You can't actually, you have to face it. Your job is to move through it with awareness, compassion and choice.
Caregiving is not just a role, caregiving is a journey and every journey deserves a map. So book an appointment for a birth chart reading and I'll be super happy to help you on that journey. See you in the next video.
