It’s not just "caregiver burnout" it’s biology.
As a nurse and Ayurvedic practitioner, I often see caregivers treating exhaustion with more coffee or sleep, but that doesn't fix the root cause.
In this video, I explain why your exhaustion is actually an energy leak happening in your gut.
We explore the Ayurvedic concepts of Agni (digestive fire), Ama (toxic sludge), and Ojas (vital resilience).
You will learn 3 simple rules to "plug the leak" so you can stop burning energy on digestion and start building resilience for your loved ones.
Let's talk about caregiving and how we can take care of caregivers. Hi, my name is Jean-Francois. I'm a nurse, an Ayurvedic practitioner, a Vedic astrologer, and I help caregivers of aging parents or any caregivers getting stronger, stable, and steady so they can take care of the people they love the most.
As a caregiver, I'm sure that you might sometime have six or seven hours of sleep
And you still wake up feeling foggy, heavy, and completely drained.
When you are exhausted, you might have been told to sleep a little bit longer. You might have been told to take some vitamins or even take some more coffee.
As an ayurvedic practitioner I can tell you that that exhaustion is not coming from a lack of sleep, it's coming from an energy leak. And that leak is happening right here.
in your gut.
In Ayurveda, we know that 80 % of your daily energy is spent trying to proceed food, emotions, and what's going on in your life.
If your digestion or your digestive fire, it's called Agni in Ayurveda, is you are not creating any energy from your food.
on the contrary you are creating some sludge
You are literally spending energy to digest rather than gaining some energy to take care of your loved one.
So today, I am going to show you how to plush that leak of energy using simple Ayurvedic Digestions hack so you can finally stop dragging yourself through the day
All right, let's dive in.
To understand where your energy is going, picture a campfire burning in your stomach. In Ayurveda, we call this agni your digestive fire. When a fire is strong and hot, you can throw a heavy log onto it like a big meal, it burns it up completely. It turns that wood into heat and light that is energy.
But what happens if that fire is weak? Or if you throw wet, soggy logs onto it? The fire doesn't burn the wood, It just smokes. It smolders. And instead of heat, you get a pile of cold hash. As caregiver, your fire is often weak because of stress. When you eat while you are anxious, or rushing, or eating...
cold left over standing over the kitchen counter, you are throwing wet log on a weak And here is the biological reality. When that food doesn't burn properly, it turns into a toxic, sticky sludge called AMA. AMA clogs your bodily channel. It's heavy, it's sticky.
If you wake up feeling like you are moving through mud or you have brain fog where you can't remember if you gave mom her meds, that is AMA blocking your flow. We don't want AMA. We want OJAS. OJAS is the final product of perfect digestions. It is the golden nectar of vitality and immunity. It's the resilience that left you handle all the crisis without breaking down.
how do we stop making ama and start making ojas? We have to treat that campfire with respect. So here are three rules to fix your fire starting today. Rule number one, stop drowning the fire. What does that mean? I know ice water feels refreshing, but if you pour ice water on a campfire, what happens?
It dies. In Ayurveda, drinking ice cold beverage with meals put out your digestive enzymes. Switch to warm water or ginger tea and this keep the fire burning and help process the meal. Rule number two, the stop and drop method. I know you are busy. I know you eat in between tasks, but.
Your body cannot digest in fight or flight mode. It physically shut down. So you must sit down, even if it's just for five to 10 minutes. Take three deep breaths before your first bite. That tells your nervous system we are safe and we can digest Rule number three, eat with the sun.
Your biological fire is strongest when the sun is the highest in the sky, meaning between 12 and 2 p.m. And this is when you should eat your biggest meal. if you eat a huge heavy dinner at 8 p.m.
When you are exhausted, the fire is too low to burn it. That food will sit there all night turning into ama so make lunch your heavy meal.
these three simple things, drinking warm water, sitting when you're having your lunch and making your lunch your biggest meal of the daynseems really simple. But remember about that leak of energy that we talked about at the beginning of the video?
These are the plugs. This is how you're going to stop creating the sludge, Ama and when you're going to start building resilience Ojazz.
And I know as a caregiver, your schedule might be super chaotic and your body has its own unique story.
And sometimes the fire could be burning too hot so then you can get anxiety or heartburn, and sometimes the digestive fire can flicker and you find yourself in somenperiod of depression and heaviness.
If you tried eating healthy, but you still find yourself being exhausted,
I invite you for a one-on-one Ayurvedic health assessment with me.
We will look at not only the food that you eat, but we will look at what makes you “you” your unique constitution type and we look obviously at what's the state of your Agni
as a result, we will work together on a roadmap that fits your reality of caregiving. and that's unique for you. not a generic plan that will add more stress to your day-to-day life.
